US F1 Team names Dave Stubbs as Operations Manager
Charlotte, N.C. (Oct. 1, 2009) – US F1 Team, the first American-based Formula One team in more than 40 years, announced today that long-time F1 veteran Dave Stubbs has joined the team as its operations manager.
With more than 30 years of racing experience, Stubbs was recruited to join US F1 Team as the head of its European operations. After a long stint at Williams, which was highlighted by Nelson Piquet and Nigel Mansell fighting over the World Championship, Stubbs was offered the chance to be team manager at Brabham, where he remained until the end of 1989. Prior to joining US F1, Stubbs made several motorsports stops including a successful stint as team manager of Stewart Grand Prix until its takeover by the Ford Motor Company in 1999. At the end of 2005 he departed the team and has spent the last few years working with Team Holland in the A1 Grand Prix Series.
“Dave Stubbs is a name well known on the grid and in the garages,” said Peter Windsor, executive vice president of US F1 Team. “Along with a resume that’s hard to compare with, Stubbs has the reputation as one of the brightest and most experienced people in Formula One. We’re honored and excited to have him join our team.”
“I’ve known Ken and Peter a very long time and it’s been a true pleasure watching their pipe dream turn into a reality,” said Stubbs. “I look forward to helping them finish what they’ve started in 2010 and beyond.”
