US F1 Team moves into headquarters facility in Charlotte, North Carolina

Charlotte, N.C. (March 15, 2009) – US F1 Team, which has plans to become the first American-based Formula One team in more than 40 years, took another step in the right direction today when it announced it has officially moved into its headquarters facility in Charlotte, North Carolina.

US F1 Team’s headquarters is strategically located in Charlotte, the motorsports capital of the United States. The team’s 40,000 square foot facility, which formerly belonged to NASCAR’s Hall of Fame Racing team, is within 100 miles of some of the best component suppliers, technological partners and testing facilities.

“US F1 Team took a major step today in its goal to become the first American-based F1 team in more than 40 years,” said US F1 Team Principal Ken Anderson. “This headquarters facility is strategically located in the heart of American motorsports and will provide US F1 Team with a wealth of possible resources.”

When US F1 Team’s headquarters is fully renovated and up-and-running, the team will have every major department housed in Charlotte including Research and Development, Design and Engineering, CFD and Aerodynamics, a machine shop with three and five-axis CNC machines, a composite shop with autoclaves, a complete fabrication shop and a fully-equipped electronics department.

“Having a world headquarters makes this dream feel like a reality,” said Peter Windsor, executive vice president of US F1 Team. “We have a lot of work to do and are very fortunate to have a race-shop quality facility located in the backyard of the American motorsports capital.”
